Our Commission form of government requires the Commissioner of Public Works to manage that department and to serve on the 5-member City Council.
Commissioner of Public Works Action Plan
- Give people an easy way (phone, app, etc.) to contact DPW with any issue and let them know the status of their issue within 24 hours and keep them informed until it is resolved.
- 24/7 response to emergencies with Commissioner personally involved as required.
- Remove the snow and ice, collect the leaves and brush, fix potholes, and keep the streets paved and maintained.
- Take care of our trees, streets, parks, sidewalks, and buildings.
- Keep our Rec Center, Ice Rinks, and playgrounds attractive, safe, and in good condition.
- Let the public know of any major risks to our infrastructure, e.g. water, sewers, major buildings. Have a plan to continually address the major risks. We have many miles of 100-year-old cast iron pipes that are corroding and leaking.
- Exercise more leadership and initiative to manage the city’s trees and greenery, taking down and planting new trees and pruning. Leverage working with volunteers, e.g., Sustainable Saratoga.
- Actively seek Federal and State support for city projects.
- Develop and implement proactive climate change response

- Work to make Saratoga Springs a city that serves the needs of all who: Live here, single or married, young or old, families with children, enjoying a beautiful city with all its cultural, recreational, and entertainment offerings; Have a business here, with easy access for walkers and bikers, and convenient parking for all; Work here, with affordable housing and public transportation; Visit here, to enjoy themselves and come back.
- Work to make it easy for people to walk and bike, so I support the Complete Streets plan and will work to find ways to implement it.
- Work to eliminate non-local heavy truck traffic in residential neighborhoods.
- Work to realize a city government that people trust and respect.
- Work to realize a government that listens and acts to address citizen’s concerns.
- I support the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee platform.
